Dawn or dusk walk
David Diggens has a passion for the natural world and has lived on Brisley Green for 40 years. He would love to share his knowledge with anyone who shares his passion. All you need is a stout pair of shoes and binoculars. Local Walks
Scenic circular walks can be taken directly from The Bell and OS Maps are available for all our guest to borrow. The Green, located opposite the pub, is a registered County Wildlife Site, a beautiful huge common with large continuous areas of unimproved neutral grassland with associated ditches, scrub and ponds. A map enjoying this local gem is situated outside the entrance to the pub.
Golf
The Royal Norwich Golf Club
Weston Longville provides the new home for The Royal Norwich Golf Club with a stunning new 18-hole course featuring genderless tees and a 6-hole academy course both designed by European Golf Design. The new course features state of the art practice facilities including short game area, practice bunkers, extensive practice putting green and range facilities.
Sheringham Golf Club
Regularly recognised among the Top 100 Courses in the country, Sherringham Golf Club is located high on the clifftops on an undulating thin sliver of land, which is wedged between the North Sea cliff edge and the North Norfolk Railway.
Royal West Norfolk Golf Club
(Brancaster) is an outstanding links course set on the North Norfolk coast. With the North Sea on one side and the saltmarsh on the other it has a wonderfully atmospheric setting, and is ranked 17th in England and 44th in the UK.
Swaffham Golf Club
Swaffham golf course was established in 1922 on a Norfolk Breckland Heath. In 2001 the club expanded from nine to eighteen holes to great effect. Set amongst woodland the course has lovely long fairways, great views and caters for all abilities. The land is well drained, minimising the effects of heavy rainfall. Buggies are available to hire. Twelve miles from The Brisley Bell.
Royal Cromer Golf Club
Visitors are welcome at Royal Cromer any day of the week and can look forward to a memorable experience. The course stands amongst the best cliff-top layouts in England, boasting fantastic views over the coastline and offers a fun and varied challenge to players of all levels.
Hunstanton Golf Club
Rated as one of Britain & Ireland’s ‘Top 100’ courses, golfers have walked the rolling fairways nestling in a stunning landscape of dunes and links grasses for 125 years. Overlooking The Wash, Hunstanton is the only golf course on the east coast of England where the sun sets over the sea, providing striking views in both summer and winter.
Dereham Golf Club
Dereham golf course is an attractive, testing nine-hole course in amongst parkland and on the edge of town. It welcomes all levels of players and offers a nice variety of fairways. This is gently undulating parkland golf that requires well thought out shot-making in order to score well. The club dates back to 1934 and has a comfortable, traditional style clubhouse which overlooks the first tee and the final green. Six miles from The Brisley Bell.
Fakenham Golf Club
Fakenham golf course is a neat, challenging, nine-hole course with six parkland holes, (the first two picturesque holes run alongside the River Wensum) and three open holes inside Fakenham's well-known racecourse. This course is a good test for the experienced golfer, but not impossible for the beginner. The course is closed on race days. Six miles from The Brisley Bell.
Fishing
Roosting Hills Fishery
Fly fishing only (April to end of November). Day tickets available. Founded in 1983, Roosting Hills Fishery is under the auspices of the Salmon and Trout Association. Their two acre lakes are regularly stocked with Rainbow Trout and the occasional Brown Trout. Set within six acres and situated next to Beetley Common, it is an area abundant in wildlife and fauna; deer, barn owls, kingfishers, oystercatchers and the occasional buzzard. 01632 860352
